Getting Motivated To Meet Your Goal

By Hannah du Plessis

“The more intensely we feel about an idea or a goal, the more assuredly the idea, buried deep in our subconscious, will direct us along the path to its fulfilment.” Earl Nightingale

What if you could wave a magic wand and have what you want tomorrow? Would you appreciate it? Would it stay that way?

The answer is probably no, because we have a “software program” in our brains that keeps us where we are. If we are poor, we stay poor. If we are sick, we stay sick. It takes a decision to change and a commitment to stick to whatever you need to do to change.

That is why, when someone wins the lotto, he or she is rich for a while, but after a while they are right back where they started. That is why most people make New Year’s resolutions, but then can’t stick to it.

So then, it takes courage to set a goal and stick to it. You need a powerful why: Why reach that goal? What would it take to get there?

You need to write your goal down, as well as your reason to get there. You need to have it pinned up everywhere so you can keep it in your vision always.

You need to visualise the goal, imagine what it would feel like when you’ve attained it, and give your full attention to the attaining of it.

This is how to motivate yourself. You can also do affirmations, write the goal and your “why” down daily, and either get hypnosis or do self-hypnosis or auto-suggestion. Do anything it takes to have your goal in your mind all the time.

This is how to attain happiness. Nothing gives one more satisfaction than reaching a goal.

Where Are You Going?

By Hannah du Plessis

“Setting and achieving goals is not REALLY about what you get as much as it is what you become during the process of attaining your goal.  When you ARE more, you'll get more automatically now and in the future.” – Mike Brescia

Did you know … Only 3% of the population set goals?

And … did you know that those are the people who are successful?

If you don’t have a goal what do you live for? And if you don’t set goals, don’t you just exist? Just keeping yourself comfortable, not risking anything?

And why don’t you want to risk anything … scared that you will fail? Avoiding pain?

How many times did you want something and didn’t get it? Did you keep it in front of you all the time? Did you think about it often? Did you imagine it, Did you see it in your mind? Did you feel it? Did you write it down? Or did you let yourself get distracted by other wants or other thoughts?

People say the opposite of pain is pleasure, but I disagree: I think the opposite of pain is comfort. Pleasure is what you get if you set a goal and achieve it. When you are not setting goals you are in a state of comfort. You are not growing, but staying the same.

Our purpose is to grow… to better ourselves.

So don’t just exist. Don’t be one of the 97%. Set a goal: Dream it, believe it, achieve it. You will grow to be a better person in the process.

You can achieve anything you set your mind to.

What Does It Take To Set And Achieve A Goal?

By Hannah du Plessis

To find what you seek in the road of life, the best proverb of all is that which says: "Leave no stone unturned." Edward Bulwer Lytton

"I have brought myself by long meditation to the conviction that a human being with a settled purpose must accomplish it, and that nothing can resist a will which will stake even existence upon its fulfilment." -Benjamin Disraeli

We often set goals for ourselves. But because of ingrained beliefs and learned behaviours, we often don’t achieve those goals. What does it take to set and achieve a goal?

Firstly, you must have a strong reason why. It just won’t work if you just decide to do something, say lose weight, just because you know you should. You need to want it badly. You need to want to get into that suit or swimsuit or fit into that special dress for your brother or sister’s wedding. You start eating healthy after a heart attack because you want to live.

Secondly, no pain, no gain: You usually have to give something up in order to reach that goal. It is usually either time or money. Sports people spend lots of time training and have to look after their bodies for optimal performance. Business people work late into the night and often suffer from lack of sleep.

If you don’t have a goal, you just exist. Goals give life meaning. It gives you a sense of accomplishment. That is a feeling of pleasure.

So what is your goal? Why do you need to reach that goal? What do you have to give up in order to be able to achieve it?

You will achieve it.
